MBTI® Certification
Policies and Procedures

  • Eligibility for MBTI® Certification requires that all applicants must be MBTI® Qualified for one year.

  • Continuing education activities for MBTI® Certification are required for all MBTI® Certified Practitioners.

  • Continuing Education must be earned through an approved MBTI® Certification Provider.

  • Twenty hours of continuing education are required during each three-year term.

  • Providers are required to list which standards are met with each course.

  • At the end of the third term, (9 years) all eight standards must be met.

  • Ten hours may be earned through distance learning or home study, the other ten can be in a workshop setting.

  • Eight hours may be earned by attending conferences sponsored by approved providers for MBTI Certification credits.

  • APT Chapters may have presentations approved for CE's through APT International.

  • The Certification Program has no authority over the fees associated with continuing education.

  • Practitioners need to keep their own records of hours from courses taken, standards met, etc. Please keep the certificates received in case your name is pulled for an audit.

  • Contact information needs to be kept current. Please call toll free-866-526-6284 to update your account.

  • If you let your certification expire, to re-apply it will be necessary to complete the standard application.

  • Practitioners who choose not to re-certify are to discontinue use of the MBTI® Certification professional designation and logo.

  • All grievances toward an MBTI® Certified Practitioner are to be submitted in writing to the Certification Administration Manager to be reviewed. The manager will then investigate the grievance making sure to contact the practitioner in question and may request that an arbiter, if warranted review it. Should it be determined that unethical use has occurred regarding the MBTI® instrument, the practitioner's certification status will be immediately revoked.

  • Information on misuse of the MBTI® instrument not affiliated with a Certified Practitioner, and legal issues regarding other instruments, organizations or materials, will be forwarded to the publisher of the MBTI® instrument, CPP, Inc.
